Easy Pour Over Recipe

This is a great recipe to start if you’re brand new to specialty coffee! From here, you can adjust the recipe according to roast, bean origin, and preference. This applies to most pour over devices and is a good starting place!
1. Start by heating some water to just below boiling point (around 200-205°F).
2. Place a paper filter in your pour over device and rinse it with hot water to remove any papery taste and preheat the apparatus.
3. Grind your light roast coffee beans to a medium-fine consistency, about the texture of sand.
4. Add the ground coffee to the filter and tap it gently to even the bed.
5. Start pouring hot water over the coffee grounds in a circular motion, starting from the center and moving outwards.
6. Pour enough water to fully saturate the coffee, but not so much that it drips through the filter too quickly.
7. Let the mixture “bloom” for 30 seconds, or until you see bubbles forming on top of the bed.
8. Pour the rest of the water in slow, concentric circles until you reach your desired brew volume (usually around 12-16 ounces).
9. Wait for the coffee to finish dripping through the filter, which should take around 3-4 minutes.
10. Enjoy your delicious pour over coffee!
Remember, the exact recipe can vary depending on personal preference and the specific coffee beans you’re using, so feel free to experiment and adjust to find your perfect cup.
